Self-detecting switch rail
Area of application are switch devices for turnouts, whose switch rails are made of special rail profiles. The high stiffness of these switch profiles makes it possible, that foreign bodies of inadmissible size between switch rail and stock rail are detected even without additional end position detectors located in the field.
Benefits:
- Improved foreign object detection
- End position detectors can be omitted
- More stable position of the open and closed switch rail during operation
- Reduction of bending stresses in the foot of the switch rail
- Increase of the turnout availability
- Reduction of the maintenance effort of the turnout
- No increase in the required setting force
Optimized Switch Device TOZ
Switch devices of turnouts are exposed to particularly high strains and stresses. The curved switch rails in turnouts with medium and small radius are exposed to high horizontal track guiding forces, which will lead to an increased lateral wear of the switch blade. This will result in a high maintenance expenditure and a restricted lying period of the switch blade. For the load capacity-optimised, reinforced switch device „TOZ“ the switch is reinforced in the critical front area.
Benefits:
- Reinforcement of the switch tip width in the sensitive front area (i.e. more material available as a wear reserve)
- Reduction of pinching and breakouts at the switch
- Best performance in curved turnouts
- Optimised price-performance ratio
R400HT
The R400HT rail grade is a fine-pearlitic heattreated rail grade in accordance with EN 13674-1, with a minimum hardness of 400 BHN. voestalpine Schienen manufactures this hypereutectoide steel grade through its worldwide patented HSH® process under the brand 400UHC® HSH® following a special metallurgic approach. Rails of this steel grade are produced in lengths of up to 120 m and are available in all rail profiles of various standards and specifications.
Benefits:
- remarkable reduction of rail maintenance costs due to excellent track performance
- significant multiplication of the operational rail service lifetime compared to other rail grades
- lowest life cycle costs for heavy loaded tracks
